Cost on any painting job depends on square footage, surface condition, number of coats required, ceiling height, and whether trim and doors are included. A single room and a full exterior are completely different scopes, so there's no honest flat rate we can publish here. What drives the number up is almost always surface prep — staining, patching, sanding, or priming before any color goes on. The Work

What a proper paint job actually covers

Surface prep is where most contractors cut corners. We don't.

Roller and brush work is the fast part. The slow part — taping, filling holes, sanding high-gloss surfaces so new paint adheres, priming bare drywall or wood — is what separates a finish that lasts from one that bubbles by summer. We cover furniture and floors before we open a can. We don't consider a room done until the tape is off and the edges are clean. Interior Painting

Walls, ceilings, trim, and doors. We prep the surface, protect what isn't getting painted, and work room by room to minimize disruption. Flat, eggshell, satin, or semi-gloss — we'll tell you which finish holds up in which room.

Exterior Painting

Siding, trim, doors, and shutters. Exterior work means pressure washing or hand-washing the surface first, caulking gaps, and using paint rated for direct sun and moisture. One coat over a dirty surface isn't painting — it's a delay.

Cabinet Painting

Cabinets get more handling than any other painted surface in a house, so the prep is more involved. Proper cabinet work includes degreasing, light sanding, a bonding primer, and a durable topcoat. We don't skip the primer and call it done.

Painting alongside a cleaning project

A lot of our painting calls come from homeowners who are also scheduling a move-in cleaning or a move-out cleaning. Fresh paint and a thorough clean before or after a move is a natural combination. If you're prepping a property for a new tenant or getting settled into a new home yourself, we can handle both without you needing to coordinate two separate companies. Painting services — what to expect

What's included in the prep work before painting starts?
At minimum: protecting floors and fixtures, filling nail holes and minor cracks, sanding any glossy surfaces so the new paint bonds, and priming bare or stained spots. On exterior jobs, we wash the surface first. Skipping prep is how you get a paint job that looks good in photos and peels by the following spring.
How many coats does a wall actually need?
Most interior walls need two coats for a uniform finish, especially when you're going from a dark color to a light one or painting over a stain. One coat is rarely enough, and anyone who tells you otherwise is saving their time, not yours. Primer counts as a coat only when the surface genuinely needs it — bare drywall, raw wood, or a severe color change.
What paint sheen should I use in which rooms?
Flat and matte hide imperfections on ceilings and low-traffic walls. Eggshell and satin are easier to clean and hold up in living rooms and bedrooms. Semi-gloss and gloss are the right call for kitchens, bathrooms, and trim — surfaces that get wiped frequently. Using flat paint in a kitchen because you like the look is a choice you'll reconsider by the first time you wipe the wall.
What's the difference between cabinet painting and just repainting walls?
Cabinets take more abuse than any painted surface in the house — daily handling, moisture, grease. The prep is more involved: full degreasing, light sanding to scuff the existing finish, a bonding primer, and a topcoat formulated for high-contact surfaces. Standard wall paint on cabinets chips within months. The process is slower, but the finish holds.
How long should I wait before washing a freshly painted wall?
Most latex paints are dry to the touch in an hour but take two to four weeks to cure fully. Washing or scrubbing before full cure can lift or dull the finish. For the first few weeks, wipe lightly with a barely damp cloth if something needs to come off. After that, the surface can handle normal cleaning — especially if a semi-gloss or satin sheen was used.
Do you handle paint disposal and cleanup?
Yes. We remove masking and drop cloths, consolidate leftover paint for you to keep or dispose of properly, and clean tools before leaving. Wet paint down a drain is not a legal disposal method, and we won't do it. If there's significant leftover paint, we'll leave it sealed and labeled so you know what color and finish it is for future touch-ups.
